Job Summary:

This position mainly ensures the execution of EHS-related measures in the factory. The SHO is responsible for monitoring compliance with Malaysian regulations (such as DOSH and DOE), coordinating waste and chemical management, and leading workplace safety programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Legal Compliance:

  2. Ensure the factory operates in full compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, Factory and Machinery Act 1967, and Environmental Quality Act 1974.

  3. Prepare and submit all required reports to DOSH, DOE, etc.

  4. Scheduled Waste & CEPSWAM Management:

  5. Handle factory waste storage, labeling, transfer, and disposal in accordance with CEPSWAM regulations.

  6. Environmental Monitoring:

  7. Oversee environmental monitoring of air emissions, wastewater, and noise levels to ensure compliance with DOE standards.

  8. Chemical Waste Control:

  9. Ensure all chemical usage, labeling, and storage meet safety and environmental requirements.

  10. PPE & Glove Monitoring:

  11. Oversee the issue, usage, and inspection of PPE and gloves to ensure safety in hazardous zones.

  12. Safety Plan & HIRARC:

  13. Conduct risk assessments, maintain updated HIRARC documentation, and drive continuous improvement in factory safety.

  14. Training & Emergency Response Team (ERT):

  15. Plan and execute EHS awareness programs, fire drills, and emergency simulations. Serve as the ERT leader.

Job Requirements:

  • Required to work collaborative with: Production / Maintenance / Warehouse Departments, HR & Training Teams, Emergency Response Team (ERT), External Coordination, Government agencies (DOSH, DOE, BOMBA), Waste disposal contractors, PPE & safety equipment suppliers, etc.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • DOSH-registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO) Mandatory
  • CEPSWAM Certificate Preferred for waste-handling factories
  • Minimum 2-3 years of EHS or Safety role experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in scheduled waste management and DOE reporting is an advantage.

Skills Required:

  • Regulatory Knowledge: OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, EQA 1974, DOSH & DOE guidelines
  • Technical Skills: HIRARC, incident investigation, PPE evaluation, ERT training
  • Soft Skills: Communication, coordination, leadership, report writing
  • Digital Tools: MS Office, DOE e-reporting system, safety inspection apps

  • Salary Range: Up to RM10k
