Job Summary

The Senior Executive, Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) is responsible for ensuring compliance with all ESH regulations and standards, ESG, including ISO14001 and other relevant requirements. This role involves active engagement with regulatory authorities, preparation of detailed reports and analyses, and the development and implementation of ESH & Sustainability strategies and systems across multiple company locations.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and health legal requirements and relevant standards.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies and authorities.
  • Manage the Environmental, Safety & Health Management System across UMWT and its affiliated entities.
  • Manage UMWT group sustainability monitoring, reporting and exploring new initiatives.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Serve as the ISO14001 Coordinator and Internal Auditor for UMWT HQ, IQH, SPLD, RPDC Sabah, and RPDC Kuching.
  • Key contact person for ESH matters across UMWT group entities including HQ, ASSB, AISB, and TBU.
  • Point of contact for Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and Toyota Motor Asia (TMA) on ESH matters.
  • Deliver training and consultation on Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and other ESH requirements.
  • Lead awareness initiatives such as campaigns, bulletins, quizzes, and email communications to promote ESH culture.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports and analyses on ESH activities and compliance.

General Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage annual ESH & Sustainability programs and budgets.
  • Prepare and contribute to sustainability reporting initiatives.
  • Compile and present monthly ESH activity reports.
  • Ensure zero non-compliance during legal audits for UMWT HQ, SPLD, and IQH.
  • Support authority audits and inspections across relevant sites.
  • Coordinate environmental programs to meet legal and other compliance obligations, including Eco-Dealerships, EAS, and I-ESH.
  • Facilitate Environment Management System (EMS) training sessions.
  • Contribute to ESH-related projects and initiatives as a task force member.
  • Promote ESH initiatives through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

Qualifications & Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental safety & health or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in safety, health and environment.
  • Certified ESG/ Sustainability Practitioner.
  • Prior experience in ESH roles is highly advantageous.
  • Strong command of both spoken and written English with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Certification as an auditor or trainer is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated abilities in strategic planning, program management, and goal setting.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Active participation in industry events and professional associations is preferred.
