SAFETY OFFICER (BASED IN JOHOR BAHRU)

POSITION SUMMARY

  • We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Officer to oversee and enforce workplace health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards at our project site.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety policies, conducting inspections and training, and ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations and company safety procedures.
  • This role is vital in promoting a culture of safety, preventing accidents, and ensuring the wellbeing of all personnel on site

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement, monitor, and enforce the company's Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) policies, procedures, and regulations at the project site.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant occupational safety laws, statutory requirements, and local authority regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation including safety reports, accident/incident investigations, risk assessment records, and safety checklists.
  • Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and training sessions for workers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all workers and visitors on site adhere to proper safety practices and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and government agencies (such as DOSH and CIDB) regarding safety matters and inspections.
  • Promote safety awareness and continuously improve workplace safety culture among all site personnel.
  • Assist in emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills and evacuation procedures.
  • Report and follow up on all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Support the Project Manager and management team in achieving overall safety and environmental performance goals.
  • Perform any other safety-related duties as assigned by the superior.

QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or a related discipline.
  • Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Malaysia (preferred).
  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant working experience in the construction or property development industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, FMA, CIDB, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and guide others on safety practices.
  • Proactive, responsible, and detail-oriented with excellent observation and reporting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with site documentation and reporting procedures.
  • Able to work independently and maintain professionalism under pressure in a fast paced construction environment

Job Type: Contract

Contract length: 12-16 months

Pay: RM5, RM7,000.00 per month
