Job Description
- Support and assist Immediate Superior in carrying out daily R&D, NPD tasks or lab activities.
- Conduct product development, product innovation, reformulation and production scale up.
- Develop cooking recipes / cooking demo instructions and demo when necessary.
- Evaluation of current and alternative food ingredients/ chemicals/ packaging materials/ process, etc.
- Conduct (and participate in) sensory evaluation/ focus group studies on new/ current products, analyze output/ result, and carry out subsequent product improvement with objective to meet customer needs and requirements.
- R&D in industrial application of company products.
- Conduct necessary analytical testing/ collect and analyze necessary data/ information of products to develop product spec parameters.
- Participate on cross functional teams project (such as production, QA/ QC, sales and marketing team) to ensure effective resolution of technical issues, continuous improvement, assist in problem solving, root cause investigation of problems, etc.
- Explore benefits of company products.
- Keep up-to-date with latest trends in new products, market and ingredients, food regulations.
- Interfacing with external parties such as ingredients suppliers, machinery suppliers and laboratory service sales person to ensure effective communication and achieving project objective and target.
- Handle the setting up, planning, sourcing, operation, training and other tasks related to lab scale New Product Innovation Centre (NPIC).
- Develop suitable forms, checklist, SOP, work instructions and handle documentation related to R&D and lab scale NPIC.
Other requirements
- Ensuring the manufacturing processes and equipment used complies with FSMS, non-GMO/GMP/GHP, HALAL, FSSC standards and compliance to relevant customer, food safety requirement, legislative and regulatory of statutory requirement.
- Must be able to lift 10kg weight items and occasionally move 25kg weight items.
- Must be able to walk, sit or stand for extended periods.
- Able to navigate safely in an industrial environment (e.g. ladders, stairs, stationary and moving industrial equipment).
- Must be able to adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and able to wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to adhere to company working hours and take calls/ work/ meeting (occasionally) after working hours and during weekends.
- Basic to moderate knowledge of Food Regulations with specific emphasis on nutritional labeling, natural food ingredients, HACCP and GMP.
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate good team work and attention to detail.
- Able to work under occasional exposure to hotter environment.
