Job Summary

The Sales Manager/ Assistant Sales Manager (Life Science & Research) will be responsible for planning, implementing and directing the company's sales activities. They will lead a team of sales representatives, set sales targets, develop sales strategies and planning and ensure the team meets or exceeds revenue and profitability goals. Key Job Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  1. Recruit, train, manage and motivate the sales team.
  2. Set clear sales goals and targets for the team.
  3. Provide coaching and guidance to help team members improve their sales skills.

Sales Strategy:

  1. Develop and execute a sales strategy to achieve company sales objectives.
  2. Identify new markets, customer needs and opportunities for growth.
  3. Monitor industry trends and competitors to stay ahead in the market.

Customer Relationship Management:

  1. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
  2. Handle escalated customer issues and complaints.
  3. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Sales Forecasting:

  1. Analyse sales data and market trends to make accurate sales forecasts.
  2. Adjust sales strategies based on market changes and feedback.

Product Knowledge:

  1. Stay up to date on the company's products or services and understand their features and benefits.
  2. Train the sales team to effectively communicate product knowledge to customers.

Reporting:

  1. Generate regular reports on sales performance, market trends and competitors.
  2. Present reports to senior management and provide recommendations.

Budget Management:

  1. Manage the sales department budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  2. Allocate resources efficiently to maximize return on investment.

Sales Tools and Technology:

  1. Utilize sales management software, CRM systems and other tools to track and manage sales activities.
  2. Ensure the team is trained to use these tools effectively.

Compliance:

  1. Ensure the sales team adheres to company policies and legal requirements,
  2. Monitor and enforce ethical business practices.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor or Master in Molecular Biology, Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical, Biochemistry, Medical Science or related studies.
  2. Proven experience as a Sales Manager/ Assistant Manager or in a similar sales leadership roles.
  3. Knowledge in the field of molecular biology or equivalent research or industrial experience.
  4. Experience in Next Generation Sequencing and/or Microarray technologies is a plus.
  5. Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Proficiency in sales management software and CRM systems.
  7. Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
  8. Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  9. Must have own transport and willing to travel extensively within Malaysia & Overseas.
