Responsibilities:

Management:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure all journal entries are supported by appropriate documentation and comply with internal controls and GAAP/IFRS.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end closing activities.

Month-End & Year-End Close:

  • Perform closing activities including accruals, deferrals, allocations, and adjusting journal entries.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements.

Reconciliation & Analysis:

  • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts, such as cash, prepaid expenses, inventory, accounts payable, and accruals.
  • Analyze financial data for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Retail-Specific Financial Support:

  • Collaborate with the inventory and cost accounting teams to ensure accurate COGS and stock valuation.
  • Support store-level accounting, including revenue recognition, store expenses, and sales reporting.
  • Monitor POS (Point of Sale) system transactions and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger.

Audit & Compliance:

  • Support external audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and accounting standards.

Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Assist in automation and process improvement initiatives within the GL and accounting function.
  • Support system upgrades, testing, and implementation related to finance and accounting systems (e.g., Codemax RMS, Autocount and POS integration).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in retail or food & beverage industries.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Experience with accounting, RMS and POS systems (e.g., Autocount, Codemax RMS, Zeoniq POS).
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookups).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Experience:

  • Experience with POS systems and store-level reporting in a retail environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) accounting.
  • Knowledge of multi-entity or multi-location accounting structures.
