Role Purpose

To oversee all accounting and financial reporting for Melody Kindyland's schools and entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insightful financial analysis for decision-making. This person manages the full monthly accounts cycle, supervises multiple school accounts, and provides financial intelligence to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Accounting & Reporting


• Oversee end-to-end accounting for all schools, ensuring timely and accurate monthly closings.


• Consolidate financial statements into a clear group-level report each month.


• Maintain consistency in chart of accounts, cost centre mapping, and accounting procedures.


• Ensure proper documentation, reconciliations, and audit trails for every entity.

  1. Compliance & Control


• Ensure full compliance with Malaysian accounting standards, SST, and tax regulations.


• Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies.


• Implement clear internal controls for payments, procurement, and petty cash.


• Review all financial documentation to minimise error, waste, or leakage.

  1. Financial Analysis & Planning


• Prepare and interpret monthly management reports (P&L per school, cashflow, variance analysis).


• Track key financial ratios such as revenue per student, cost per student, and payroll % of revenue.


• Assist the CEO in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control planning.


• Translate data into practical insights for strategy and performance improvement.

  1. Process Improvement


• Simplify and standardise financial workflows across all schools.


• Develop templates, dashboards, and schedules for consistent reporting.


• Recommend system or tool upgrades (Excel dashboards, BI tools like Power BI, etc.) to improve accuracy and speed.

Requirements


• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.


• Minimum 5–7 years' experience in accounting or finance, preferably managing multi-location or multi-entity operations. 3 years of Managerial experience.


• Strong command of Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) and familiarity with analytics tools (Power BI, Google Data Studio, or similar).


• Excellent understanding of Malaysian accounting standards, tax, and compliance.


• High attention to detail, discipline, and integrity.


• Analytical mindset, able to turn numbers into clear insights and recommendations.


• Strong communication skills — comfortable dealing with internal departments and auditors.
