Job Purpose

To support and assist the the Data Protection Officer ("DPO") to ensure Prasarana's Group compliance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and other relevant data protection laws which may be applicable and to assist the Senior Vice President to draft, peruse, review and negotiate, advise, highlight and raise to the Management implications, risks and exposures of terms and/or conditions of contracts in all commercial arrangements and operational agreements entered or to be entered into by the Company in carrying out its business activities to ensure that the interest and benefit of the Company are secured and safeguarded at all times.

Key Accountabilities

Legal Services.

  • Providing competent legal services to protect the legal interests of Prasarana Group.
  • Advising on the legal issues raised by the internal stakeholders from time to time.
  • Reviewing and drafting legal documents in proper and timely manner.
  • Managing litigation or contract disputes and liaising with external lawyers on the same.
  • Ensuring compliance of Prasarana Group with the relevant laws, statutory requirements and internal procedure and policies.

Personal Data Compliance.

  • Implementing and maintaining compliance with the PDPA.
  • Support privacy risk assessments, including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and vendor risk assessments and due diligence including third party processors for new processes or system.
  • Drafting and maintaining internal legal and data protection policies, SOPs, and privacy notices.
  • Provide practical legal and privacy advice during project reviews or system implementations.
  • Support in managing data breaches, including initial assessment, documentation, and communication with stakeholders and regulators, if required.
  • Maintaining the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) and ensuring data flows are documented and compliant.
  • Contribute to developing training materials and awareness programs related to legal compliance and data protection obligations and participate in conducting the same.

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law or equivalent.
  • Called to Malaysian Bar is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years related working experience in private practice or in house.
  • Knowledge and understanding of PDPA including its principles and application to business operations.
  • Ability to assist and learn in conducting DPIAs, vendor risk assessment and third-party processors.
  • Ability to draft or revise data protection policies, privacy notices, consent forms, and internal SOPs in compliance with PDPA.
  • Familiarity with incident response procedures and reporting requirements under PDPA and supporting the investigation and documentation of data breach incidents.
