Linux Administrator Specialist l Penang

Job Purpose:

• In the Cluster Delivery Organization, Business Specialists, Business Experts, Engineer Specialists, Engineers, Administrators and Product Owners work together in a team. Agile methods help employees perform their functions by enabling a fast and flexible response to changing conditions and customer needs through an iterative approach and continuous development of new solutions.
• This approach aims at better products, higher quality, more efficient processes and faster implementation. This will ensure that valuable functionalities are delivered to the customer and that existing products, processes and services are further developed in a customer-oriented manner.
• In order to achieve this, the employees work autonomously, with guidance from senior team members, and are self-organized with evolving independence. For this purpose, team members are gradually entrusted with responsibility for processes and systems that are necessary for their respective products, processes, and services. Open communication between team members ensures regular and timely feedback. • The Specialist Administrator has a basic technical orientation and acts in the role of the Cell Member.
• He has an agile and digital mindset that he always adapts to the current requirements using the appropriate development options.
• The specialist administrator is used where his knowledge and experience is needed. It is therefore flexible in terms of use in different cells and chapters, even across cluster boundaries.

Key Activities:

• Assist in troubleshooting, problem investigation, monitoring, and performance analysis and optimization under the guidance of senior team members.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and implementation, as well as contribute to security management planning with supervision.
• Provide continuous optimization suggestions for engineering efficient and process-technical concepts while gaining deeper technical knowledge.
• Support customer consulting and provide assistance with regard to the services for which the Specialist is responsible, ensuring satisfactory service delivery.
• Ensure adherence to internal and external requirements, particularly with regard to regulatory, reporting, compliance, and audit processes for the issues under responsibility, following best practices with guidance.
• Contribute to the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the infrastructure, and assist in data maintenance, reporting, and authorization management of systems.
• Align with and adhere to security standards to assist in ensuring stable operation for products, services, processes, and systems.
• Be available for on-call and out-of-hours support when required, either independently or as a support function for escalations from junior team members.
• Engage in effective teamwork and maintain proactive communication with internal customers to ensure smooth collaboration.

Skills and Experience requirements:

• Plan and deploying all RHEL application servers in production based on the defined processes
• Active maintenance and updating of productive systems
• Ensure 2nd and 3rd level support for the responsible IT systems
• Analyze and correct incidents and problems (cancelations, cross-country skiers, vulnerabilities etc.) while learning advanced troubleshooting techniques.
• Implement changes and releases in the responsible area under the direction of more experienced team members.
• Documentation of the systems used (Asset Database)
• Provide technical support to maintain production operations, gaining hands-on experience in system reliability and stability.
• Good Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Knowledge. RHCA Knowledge Level expected.
• Develop general Cloud Technology knowledge and provide support for RHEL on Azure, GCP, and Google BMS platforms in collaboration with peers.
• Virtualization - VMware Knowledge
• Familiarity with Python, Git, CI/CD (like TeamCity, Jenkins...), Programming Vendor APIs such as Red Hat Satellite API, Azure, GCP or VMware APIs, MS Defender for Endpoint Linux
• Good knowledge of either Red Hat Ansible, Ansible Automation Platform, SALT, Puppet
• Deploy all RHEL application servers based on the defined processes
• Handle and eliminate the deficiencies identified from the health checks performed
• Gain basic experience working with middleware components (Tivoli, Backup, Nessus, etc.) under supervision.
• Contribute to security tasks, including SIEM monitoring, security patching, and PAM processes, under guidance.
• Handle MS Defender predefined tasks (Configuration changes, Scan defect resolution, Network failures) and escalate as needed.
• Basic Openshift Administration
• OS Basis Monitoring
• Programming of scripts and batch runs for the automation of the system sequence
• Actively participate in server migration projects with team support and gradually contribute to their execution based on experience.
