Position Summary:

The CSA Engineer is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing all civil, structural, and architectural works on the Data Center project, ensuring that construction activities are executed safely, within schedule and budget, and in accordance with approved design, specifications, and quality standards.

This position plays a pivotal role in interfacing between the design, construction, and quality teams to ensure seamless coordination across substructure, superstructure, and architectural finishes. The CSA Engineer ensures design intent is implemented effectively in the field while maintaining compliance with local authority requirements and client expectations.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

1. Project & Site Coordination

• Lead and coordinate all CSA-related site activities to ensure alignment with project objectives, schedule, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with the Construction Manager, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve design and site issues in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Review construction drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, and RFIs to confirm consistency with design intent and specifications.
• Liaise with MEP and architectural trades to avoid clashes and ensure smooth installation sequencing.
• Conduct regular site inspections and walkthroughs to monitor progress, safety, and workmanship quality.

2. Construction Management

• Supervise the execution of civil, structural, and architectural works — including foundation, structural steel/concrete, waterproofing, façade, partitions, finishes, and external works.
• Verify that works are performed in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, and safety procedures.
• Coordinate mock-ups, sample approvals, and inspection requests with consultants and clients.
• Support the Construction Manager during testing, commissioning, and project handover phases, ensuring all documentation and inspection records are complete.

3. Quality, Cost & Schedule Control

• Implement and maintain the CSA Quality Control Plan, ensuring all inspection and testing requirements are met.
• Track and report CSA work progress, highlighting potential delays and recommending mitigation actions.
• Review and verify variation orders (VOs) and change requests from contractors, providing technical justification and cost analysis.
• Participate in Value Engineering (VE) reviews to optimize design, materials, and construction efficiency.
• Monitor site material delivery schedules and coordinate with procurement and logistics teams.

4. Technical & Authority Interface

• Assist in obtaining approvals from consultants, local authorities, and statutory bodies for design and construction works.
• Coordinate with design consultants to address discrepancies between as-built and design drawings.
• Ensure all as-built documentation, inspection records, and handover submissions are properly maintained and updated.

5. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

• Promote and enforce Turner's EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards and the Client's site safety requirements.
• Participate in safety inspections, toolbox talks, and risk assessments focusing on CSA-related activities.
• Encourage sustainable practices and compliance with LEED, GreenRE, or equivalent certification objectives.

6. Communication & Reporting

• Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, technical meeting minutes, and issue logs.
• Provide input for project dashboards, construction summaries, and management updates.
• Maintain clear communication between field engineers, contractors, consultants, and the client's representatives.
• Support the Project and Construction Managers with any other duties necessary for project delivery success.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in large-scale building, industrial, or mission-critical projects, with at least 3 years in Data Center or high-tech facility construction preferred.
• Proven experience in managing and coordinating CSA trades (civil, structural, and architectural) during all project stages.
• Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as ASCE, ACI, ANSI, ASTM, BS, OSHA, IFC, and Malaysian UBBL / MS Standards.
• Skilled in reading and interpreting drawings and specifications for construction execution and coordination.
• Experience in interfacing with consultants, contractors, and local authorities.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and MS Project; familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM tools is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities; proactive and detail oriented.
