EHS Engineer

Batu Kawan, Penang, Malaysia VIVAX METROTECH SDN. BHD. Full time 80,000 - 120,000 per year

Key Responsibilities:

1. Compliance & Regulatory

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal EHS laws and regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOE, EPA).
  • Maintain and update all required EHS permits, licenses, and documentation.
  • Lead internal and external audits, inspections, and follow-up on corrective actions.

2. ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits; address non-conformities and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Lead Management Review Meetings and ensure documentation is up to date and compliant with ISO standards.
  • Conduct gap analysis and ensure readiness for certification and surveillance audits

3. Risk Management & Safety

  • Conduct risk assessments, job safety analysis (JSA), and hazard identification.
  • Develop and implement control measures to eliminate or reduce risks.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents; implement root cause analysis and corrective actions.

4. Training & Awareness

  • Plan and deliver EHS training programs (e.g., PPE, fire safety, chemical handling, ergonomics).
  • Ensure all employees and contractors are aware of and comply with EHS policies and procedures.

5. Environmental Management

  • Monitor environmental parameters such as waste, air emissions, and water discharge.
  • Support environmental sustainability initiatives and reporting.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting for environmental compliance.

6. Continuous Improvement & Reporting

  • Lead EHS improvement projects (e.g., energy reduction, waste minimization, safety enhancements).
  • Track EHS KPIs and prepare regular reports for management.
  • Stay updated on EHS trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations, standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001), and best practices
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Good communication and training skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and EHS management systems
