About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished and strategic
Head of Department – Procurement
to lead a major organisation's procurement and tender management division in Johor. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving transformation, strengthening governance, and building supplier excellence across the APAC region. The successful candidate will report to the executive leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's long-term sourcing and operational strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all procurement and tender activities across multiple business units.
  • Drive process transformation, governance, and efficiency within the procurement function.
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives aligned with sustainability and cost-optimisation goals.
  • Manage supplier relationships and ensure robust vendor performance frameworks.
  • Champion digitalisation and transparency in procurement practices.
  • Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with business priorities.
  • Lead, mentor, and build a capable procurement team with a focus on accountability and excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum
    15 years of progressive experience
    in procurement or contract management, with
    at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity
    .
  • Proven success in
    procurement transformation, strategic sourcing, and vendor governance
    within large or complex organisations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with executive-level exposure.
