JOB SUMMARY
The Operations Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing the entire operational workflow of the trading business, from procurement and inventory management to logistics and order fulfillment. This senior role focuses on optimizing processes, managing resources, and leading the operations team to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and excellent customer service.
JOB TASK
- SUPPLY CHAIN & PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT
· Manage the purchasing process, ensuring goods are sourced effectively and arrive on time.
· Maintain relationships with key suppliers and logistics partners to ensure smooth and reliable operations.
- INVENTORY & WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT
· Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory levels, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stock-outs.
· Manage all warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, and handling of goods, ensuring efficiency and safety.
· Lead and ensure the accuracy of regular stock takes and cycle counts.
- LOGISTICS & ORDER FUFILLMENT
· Oversee the entire order fulfillment process, from picking and packing to final dispatch, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
· Manage the transportation fleet or liaise with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure cost-effective and on-time deliveries.
- LEADERSHIP & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
· Lead, mentor, and manage the entire operations team, including warehouse, logistics, and purchasing staff.
· Continuously analyze and improve operational processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
· Prepare and manage the operations department budget and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
JOB REQUIREMENT
· A minimum of 5 - 8 years of progressive experience in supply chain, logistics, or operations, preferably within a trading or distribution environment.
· Deep understanding of the end-to-end supply chain, including procurement, international sourcing, and supplier management.
· Expertise in inventory control strategies (e.g., JIT, min-max levels), stock-taking procedures, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
· Strong knowledge of transportation management, order fulfillment processes, and experience managing in-house fleets or third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
· Experience in preparing and managing departmental budgets, controlling costs, and analyzing operational data (KPIs).
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex operational and logistical challenges.
· A mindset geared towards continuous process improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with all levels of staff, suppliers, and customers.
