Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned and hands-on Injection Molding Manager to lead the startup and establishment of a major new manufacturing department in Johor Bahru. This is a critical leadership role responsible for driving the insourcing of production and building a world-class, highly efficient molding operation from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities & Challenges

  • Pioneer Leadership: Lead the end-to-end setup of the new injection molding department, including facility layout planning, equipment procurement, and commissioning (initial setup involves 8 machines, with a plan to grow).
  • Process Excellence: Develop and implement Scientific Molding principles and robust processes to ensure high-quality, repeatable output and minimal waste.
  • Team Building: Recruit, train, and develop a skilled molding team of technicians, process engineers, and operators to grow to 30-40 people.
  • Operational Management: Define KPIs, manage daily production schedules, and drive continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) to optimize output and cost efficiency.
  • Tooling Oversight: Manage preventative maintenance programs and maintain relationships with external tooling suppliers to ensure optimal mold performanceLead the establishment of the injection molding department, including facility layout, equipment selection, and process development.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 7+ years of experience in injection molding, with at least 3 years in a leadership/managerial role.
  • Technical Depth: Strong knowledge of injection molding machines, tooling, automation, and plastics technology.
  • Startup Experience: Proven experience in insourcing production or building a molding operation from scratch is a significant advantage.
  • Continuous Improvement: Hands-on experience implementing methodologies like Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • Communication: Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills in English and Bahasa.
