Job Description: Medical Assistant Position

Overview :

The Medical Assistant supports doctors and healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves both administrative and clinical responsibilities to ensure smooth daily operations within the clinic.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties

  • Assist doctors during patient consultations, examinations, and minor procedures.
  • Record and update patient medical histories, vital signs, and symptoms.
  • Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain clinical supplies.
  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as:
  • Taking blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and weight
  • Administering injections (if certified)
  • Collecting and labeling laboratory specimens
  • Wound care and dressing changes
  • Ensure infection control and compliance with clinic safety protocols.
  • Support patient education regarding medications, procedures, or follow-up care.

Administrative Duties

  • Manage patient registration, scheduling appointments, and follow-up reminders.
  • Handle patient inquiries via phone or walk-ins professionally.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update medical software systems.
  • Support billing, invoicing, and insurance claim processes.
  • Assist in inventory management of medical supplies and medications.
  • Ensure the clinic's front desk and work areas are organized and presentable.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree/Certificate in Medical Assistant or related healthcare field.
  • Valid certification/registration recognized by local health authorities (if applicable).
  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures and clinical practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literacy (clinic management systems is a plus).
