This position is responsible for overseeing Traffic Safety Management as well as health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) aspects, for Juru-Sg Dua Project. The position will ensure the project complies with all relevant safety regulations and standards, mitigating risks and ensuring a safe working environment for all stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

Traffic Safety Management:

Develop and implement traffic management plans to ensure the safety of workers and the public during the highway widening project. Coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders to minimize traffic disruptions and ensure compliance with traffic regulations. Monitor traffic conditions and implement adjustments to traffic management plans as necessary.

HSSE Management:

Develop, implement, and manage HSSE policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements and industry best practices. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with HSSE standards. Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks. Manage incident and accident investigations, ensuring thorough documentation and follow-up actions.

Training and Development:

Conduct HSSE and traffic safety training for all project personnel, ensuring they are aware of safety protocols and procedures. Develop and deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and other training sessions to promote a safety-first culture. Conduct safety orientation sessions for new employees and contractors. Ensure ongoing education and awareness of health and safety practices among the workforces.

Emergency Preparedness:

Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures for the project. Conduct regular emergency drills and ensure all personnel are trained in emergency response protocols. Ensure all site personnel are familiar with emergency procedures.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of HSSE and traffic safety activities, including inspections, audits, incidents, and training sessions. Prepare and present regular HSSE and traffic safety reports to senior management and stakeholders. Ensure all health and safety documentations are up-to-date and accurately filed.

Collaboration and Communication:

Liaise with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure HSSE and traffic safety requirements are integrated into all project activities. Act as the primary point of contact for HSSE and traffic safety issues, providing guidance and support as needed.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations. Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure all required permits and documentations are in place. Stay updated on changes to health and safety regulations and update policies accordingly.

Safety Equipment and PPE:

  • Ensure the availability and proper use of personnel protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment.
  • Monitor the condition and maintenance of safety equipment.
  • Provide guidance on the correct use and handling of PPE.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Safety and Health Officer (SHO) certificate holder is required
  • 5 years' experience in construction industry
  • Must possess in-depth knowledge in Acts and Regulations under Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), including OSHA 2022 and the Construction Works and Design Management (CDM) Regulations 2024
