The Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) is a Regional Inter-Governmental Organisation (IGO) established by UNESCO in August 1977, serving countries in the UN-ESCAP region. Its headquarters is located at the 2nd Floor, Technology Building, IPPTAR, Angkasapuri, 50614 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

AIBD's core mission is capacity building through organising activities for its members and the electronic media industry. The Institute aims to create a vibrant and cohesive media environment in the Asia-Pacific region through policy development, training, and resource sharing.

We are seeking dynamic and adaptable candidates who are keen to build and grow their careers in programme and project management. The role requires individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, embrace new technologies, and contribute innovative ideas.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assess the developmental needs of the broadcasting industry in AIBD member countries and organisations.
  2. Initiate, develop, and design training programmes and curricula in line with AIBD's vision, mission, and focus areas.
  3. Organise regional training activities for broadcasting professionals.
  4. Identify and contract qualified resource persons or teams for training and consultancy activities.
  5. Prepare cost estimates, exercise budgetary control, and liaise with potential funding sources.
  6. Produce programme reports, including budget details, articles, and press releases on programme activities.
  7. Review and evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of training programmes.
  8. Represent AIBD in professional groups and international conferences.
  9. Build networks, partnerships, and sponsorship opportunities, including fundraising for the Institute.
  10. Undertake other duties as assigned by the Director.

Requirements

  1. Possess at least bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunication, Social Science, Public Relations, Event Management, or a related field.
  2. Professional qualifications in TV/Radio production, content creation, or documentary studies are an advantage.
  3. Minimum of 3 years' experience in Development/Project Management or a related discipline, ideally at the mid-career level.
  4. Knowledge of broadcasting in the Asia-Pacific region.
  5. Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  6. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  7. Proficiency in management, negotiation, writing, and presentation.
  8. Experience in conducting/organising technical training and consultancy activities.
  9. Skills in graphic design, infographics, video editing/production, and media promotion are desirable.
  10. Knowledge of IT management (web design, website maintenance, infrastructure, and technical training).
  11. Experience in social media management, design/layout for publications, e-books, and presentations is an added advantage.
  12. Strong problem-solving ability, results-oriented mindset, and attention to detail.
  13. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage time effectively, and handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  14. Resilience in managing stress and delivering outcomes across multiple projects simultaneously.

Appointment Terms

  1. The selected candidate will be appointed on a one-year contractual basis, renewable subject to performance and organisational needs.
