Position Summary

The Accounts Executive is responsible for handling day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This role supports the Finance team across accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, and month-end closing activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Verify supplier invoices, purchase orders, and delivery orders for accuracy.
  • Process payments to vendors on a timely basis.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure all expenses are supported with proper documentation and approvals.

2. Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Prepare customer invoices and credit notes.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and assist in resolving billing issues.
  • Ensure timely posting of receipts and accurate aging reports.

3. General Ledger (GL)

  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger schedules.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations.

4. Cash & Bank Management

  • Prepare and update daily cash/bank positions.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in monitoring cash flow and fund transfers.

5. Reporting & Documentation

  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and analysis.
  • Maintain proper filing of accounting documents.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Support external and internal audit requests.

6. Additional Duties (Optional depending on company)

  • Handle staff claims, petty cash reimbursements, and credit card expenses.
  • Assist in tax submissions (SST/GST), payroll journals, and statutory filings.
  • Support procurement or inventory control if required.
  • Participate in process improvements and system upgrades.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience (hotel experience is an advantage).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MYOB, Sun Systems, Opera).
  • Good analytical skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
