Pipeline Operation and Maintenance Engineer

Purpose of the position
-The Pipeline Operations and Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the
safe, reliable, and efficient
operation and maintenance of the company's pipeline and related facilities. This role involves technical support for day-to-day operations, developing and managing maintenance programs, conducting integrity assessments, and ensuring all activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies, particularly focusing on
asset integrity and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment)
.
Principal responsibilities
-The duties of the Pipeline Operations and Maintenance Engineer include, but are not limited to:
Operations Support:
Provide technical engineering support for pipeline operations, including troubleshooting, optimizing flow, managing pigging operations, and ensuring product quality standards are maintained.
- Month end pipeline reading and close out reporting
- Validation of meter reading for billing or invoicing
- Month end reconciliation
- Pipeline loses tracking and improvement
- Support plant operation whenever requires
- Follow supervisor instruction and complete assigned work on time
Maintenance Program Management:
- Develop, implement, and manage
Preventive Maintenance (PM)
and
Predictive Maintenance (PdM)
strategies for pipeline systems and associated equipment (e.g., control valve, valve pit , valve , metering station , Instrument ). - Coordinate and oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair activities, including major overhauls and turnarounds.
- To conduct weekly inspection and patrolling
- 6 month / yearly flowmeter calibration
Pipeline Integrity:
- Develop and execute
Pipeline Integrity Management Programs
(PIMP), including In-Line Inspection (ILI) data review, corrosion monitoring, risk assessments, and repair plans. - Manage and provide technical oversight for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections and Fitness-For-Service (FFS) assessments.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all maintenance and operational activities are in strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., DOSH, ASME, API standards).
- Conduct
Process Safety Management (PSM)
reviews and participate in incident investigations, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and hazard assessments.
Project and Contractor Management:
- Scope, plan, and execute minor pipeline capital and maintenance projects.
- Manage contractors and external service providers, ensuring work quality, adherence to safety standards, and cost control.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, inspection, and repair history. Generate performance, integrity, and incident reports for management and regulatory bodies.
Required key skills (functional/technical)
Technical
Troubleshooting complex operational and mechanical issues. Risk Assessment and mitigation planning. Project Management fundamentals (scope, cost, schedule).
Safety & Compliance
Strong understanding of HSE policies and regulatory requirements. Contractor Safety Management. Emergency response procedure knowledge.
Interpersonal
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (Operations, Commercial, HSE). Leadership in driving maintenance excellence.
Core
Problem-solving, detail-oriented, ability to work independently, and strong organizational skills.
Required qualifications/experience
- Education:
Bachelor's Degree in
Mechanical, Civil, or Petroleum Engineering
(or a closely related field) from an accredited university. - Experience:
5+ years
of progressive experience in pipeline engineering, maintenance, or asset integrity within the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry. - Technical Knowledge:
- Strong working knowledge of relevant pipeline codes and standards (e.g.,
ASME B31.4, B31.8, API 1169
). - Experience with pipeline hydraulic analysis, stress analysis, and integrity tools (
ILI data analysis, cathodic protection
). - Proficiency with engineering software such as
AutoCAD, Caesar II
, or similar tools.
