Senior Executive Engineer

Job Description Key Responsibilities

Supports the Manager in planning, supervising, and ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance (O&M) of all building facilities at Terminal 1, covering Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) and Civil & Structural (C&S) systems. Ensures assets operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with regulatory and airport standards.

• O&M Management: Plan, supervise, and monitor preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance. Maintain HVAC, lifts, escalators, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural systems.

• Contractor & Vendor Management: Supervise contractors to ensure compliance with contracts, SOPs, and safety standards. Review work reports and support contract administration.

• Incident & Fault Response: Respond to faults or incidents, coordinate repairs, and report on root causes and corrective actions.

• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work meets aviation safety and regulatory standards. Support audits and inspections. Promote safe work practices.

• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare reports, O&M records, and track asset performance, budgets, and KPIs.

• Stakeholder Coordination: Work with internal departments, airlines, tenants, and vendors to resolve building issues.

• Staff Supervision & Development: Lead technicians and supervisors, provide training and feedback, and act as Manager when required.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce costs, and support upgrades or energy-saving initiatives.

Key Challenges

1. 1. Working in a Live Airport Environment
      Ensuring maintenance activities are carried out safely and efficiently in a 24/7 live airport environment where operational continuity is the top priority. All works must be coordinated to avoid disruption to passenger movement, airline operations, and terminal services.

   2. High Expectations from Passengers and Management
      Meeting the increasing expectations for service quality, comfort, and reliability from both airport management and millions of passengers. Any asset failure or service interruption can directly impact customer experience and airport image, requiring rapid response and high-quality service delivery.

   3. Managing Complex, Aged, and Critical Infrastructure
      Terminal 1 consists a wide range of critical M&E and C&S systems, many of which are aging and require intensive maintenance, frequent rectification, and proactive risk management. Balancing limited downtime windows, resource constraints, and the need for continuous improvement remains a significant challenge.

Skills Technical Skills

• Knowledge of M&E systems: HVAC, lifts, escalators, electrical, plumbing, and generators.

• Understanding of C&S systems: building structure, roofing, drainage, and finishes.

• Ability to read drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.

• Familiar with maintenance techniques and building management systems (BMS).

• Knowledge of safety and aviation regulations.

Managerial & Operational Skills

• Plan and coordinate maintenance without affecting airport operations.

• Supervise contractors and ensure compliance.

• Troubleshoot and solve equipment or building issues quickly.

• Manage resources, schedules, and budgets efficiently.

Soft Skills

• Lead and guide technical teams effectively.

• Communicate clearly with staff, management, and stakeholders.

• Pay attention to detail and ensure safety and quality.

• Adapt to work in a live airport environment with high expectations.

Education

External

• Degree in Civil/ Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering (Hons)
• Registered with Board of Engineers of Malaysia (BEM)

Relevant industries

External

• A minimum of 3 years relevant working experience and CGPA of ≥ 3.0
