Chief Scientist Officer

Position Overview

The Chief Scientist will serve as the technical and strategic lead for the company's development program. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong scientific expertise, proven project leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of chemical process design, optimization, and industrial-scale implementation. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all R&D, pilot-scale, and commercialization activities, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, regulatory standards, and sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end development of the urea/fertilizer project, from conceptualization to commercial deployment.
• Direct and supervise scientific teams in process development, formulation, and product performance testing.
• Oversee experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation to drive technical excellence and innovation.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and business units to translate R&D outputs into scalable manufacturing solutions.
• Manage multiple project timelines, ensuring deliverables are met within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and quality assurance frameworks.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies, catalysts, and process improvements relevant to urea or fertilizer production.
• Liaise with external partners, universities, and government agencies for technical collaboration and funding opportunities.
• Prepare technical reports, white papers, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Team Leadership: Experience managing multidisciplinary teams — chemists, process engineers, analysts, interns.
• Capable of guiding teams through transitions (scale-up, audit, or board evaluation phases).
• Visionary thinking and able to anticipate market and technology shifts in sustainable fertilizer and graphene materials.
• Cross-Department Communication: Strong coordination with CEO, production, ESG, and HR divisions for milestone alignment.
• Regulatory & ESG Insight: Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, LCA, and carbon-neutral strategies (e.g., G-PRIME compliance).
• Innovation Pipeline: Track record of leading R&D from proof-of-concept to commercial prototype, with published or patented outputs.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education:
  Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. (Ph.D. or Master's degree is an added advantage)
• Experience:
  Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in production, chemical process R&D, or industrial-scale chemical manufacturing.
• Technical Expertise:
  Strong command of chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, reaction engineering, and process optimization.
• Project Management:
  Demonstrated track record in managing multidisciplinary technical projects with defined deliverables and timelines.
• Leadership Skills:
  Ability to lead diverse technical teams, drive innovation, and make data-driven decisions.
• Communication:
  Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation, stakeholder engagement, and reporting.
• Time Management:
  Proven capability to prioritize tasks effectively in high-pressure environments and deliver on schedule.
