Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee end-to-end merchant onboarding operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (including KYC, KYB, AMLA, and risk assessments).
  • Review, validate, and approve complex or high-risk merchant applications, including analysis of SSM documents, CTOS/credit reports, business models, transactional patterns, and potential fraud indicators.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for the sales team, merchant success teams, and external partners, providing expert guidance to resolve complex onboarding, operational, or compliance issues.
  • Design, optimize, and implement onboarding workflows, SOPs, and documentation to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and improve merchant experience.
  • Monitor onboarding performance metrics, generate analytical reports, and highlight trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities to management and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Compliance, Legal, and Finance departments to address discrepancies, resolve payment or settlement issues, and ensure regulatory alignment.
  • Provide strategic input to sales, advising on merchant eligibility, risk appetite, and process feasibility to support business growth.
  • Conduct internal training and mentorship for junior team members, including guidance on KYC/AMLA checks, CRM usage, process compliance, and best practices.
  • Manage CRM and onboarding platforms, ensuring data accuracy, tracking automation opportunities, and driving enhancements with the product/tech teams.
  • Maintain strong merchant relationships, addressing issues through email, phone, chat, and other support channels, ensuring high satisfaction and timely resolution.
  • Regularly brief senior management on operational performance, major incidents, high-risk cases, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  1. Diploma/Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or related fields (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  2. 3+ years of relevant experience in merchant onboarding, risk operations, fintech, payments, or financial services (with demonstrated experience handling complex cases).
  3. Strong understanding of KYC/KYB, AMLA, compliance frameworks, and risk assessment methodologies.
  4. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of negotiating and resolving escalated issues efficiently.
  5. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including coaching and guiding junior staff.
