Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Project Planner, located in Kuching. The Project Planner will manage planning and scheduling for projects, oversee project control processes, and coordinate with teams to ensure timely completion of deliverables. Responsibilities include analysing project data, preparing reports, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders to align project goals and timelines. Details as follows:

  1. Work Program Creation –
    Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules / work programs, defining specific tasks, elaborate work breakdown activities, dependencies, and durations to form a realistic and achievable timeline.
  2. Resource Management
    –
    Coordinate with teams to allocate and track resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment, to ensure they are available when needed and align with the project schedule.
  3. Progress Monitoring –
    Continuously monitor project progress against the established schedule and budget, tracking actual performance and comparing it to the planned milestones. Accommodating updates and changes to project schedules.
  4. Risk and Delay Management –
    Identify potential project risks, conflicts, and delays, and develop proactive strategies to mitigate or resolve them, minimizing their impact on project completion. Recommending actions to keep projects within budget, and completed on time.
  5. Collaboration –
    Work closely with project managers, team members, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and provide necessary input for effective project execution. Keeping stakeholders informed of project timelines and deadlines.
  6. Software Utilisation –
    Employ project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) to manage schedules, track data, and facilitate communication among project participants.
  7. Reporting –
    Generate accurate progress reports and communicate project status, changes, and potential issues to project managers, stakeholders, and other team members.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering or related equivalent qualification; or above related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and work experiences.
  2. Minimum 3-5 years of related working experience or extensive experience in project / schedule planning and management, with in-depth knowledge of the scope of projects or work breakdown schedule.
  3. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suites and project scheduling software (i.e., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6) is a must.
  4. Skills in project planning, scheduling, and control. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
  5. Certification as Project Management Professional (PMP) is advantageous.
  6. Experience in the utilities, energy or construction sector is a preferable.
