JOB PURPOSE / JOB SCOPE
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, timeliness of our financial statements, compliance with regulations, and support for strategic financial initiatives.
- This role involves driving financial performance, managing budgets, optimizing cost efficiency, and providing financial insights to support decision-making across the organization.
JOB CONTENT/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts:
- Form a close working relationship with the Board of Directors, other Senior Executives and Non-Executives;
- Provide leadership to the Board's Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimize the company's financial performance and strategic position;
- Take overall control of the company's accounting function - day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and internal controls;
- Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions, and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets, and business drivers;
- Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth;
- Drive automation and efficiency in close, reporting, and consolidation processes;
- Lead and develop accounting teams;
- Work with senior teams to grow the business, formulating strategies and plans;
- Take ultimate responsibility for the company cash management policies;
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with requirements;
- Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met;
- Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including customers and advisors;
- Manage external audit process and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies;
Finance:
- To lead the department and play a key advisory role to the Board of Directors on raising funding (debt & equity), cash flow management (FX) and new business viability;
- Fundraising – sourcing and liaising effectively with bankers, financial institutions, and external advisors to meet funding requirements of the Group;
- Leading all financial aspects of company's Initial Public Offering (IPO) process, including preparing financial statements, managing regulatory compliance, collaborating with external advisors like investment banks and auditors, and ensuring a smooth execution of the IPO while adhering to Malaysian market rules, all within the context of a marine industry operation; and
- Partner cross-functionally with M&A team to support company growth and acquisitions at managed companies, including integration of accounting functions. Lead the analysis, budgeting, and forecasting for the Group;
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL
Education/Professional Qualification
- Preferably with Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent. MBA is a plus
Professional Experience or Skill
- 8 –10 years of progressive accounting experience, including public company. SEC reporting experience is an added advantage.
- To direct the organization's financial planning and accounting by analyzing figures and implement recommendations based on these figures with the most profitable outcomes and will also be commercially aware to advise on the best path growth for the business.
- A dynamic individual that is willing and able to support multiple work streams and capable of establishing and scaling robust financial processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure.
- Prior experience in a public accounting firm and operating in a high growth or early-stage public company environment preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Advanced Excel skills required; experience with financial modeling and complex data analysis preferred.
- Experience with financial consolidation and reporting tools.
