Job Title: Head of Finance / Head of Accounting (Mandarin Speaker)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Finance / Head of Accounting to lead our regional finance team supporting operations in China and global markets. This role requires a seasoned finance leader with deep technical accounting expertise, strong business acumen, and proven experience in managing large finance teams within an international environment.

You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, accounting, reporting, and compliance, ensuring timely and accurate consolidation and closing of books. As the bridge between regional and global counterparts, you will collaborate closely with finance teams in the UK, China, and other international markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full finance and accounting function, overseeing a team of 10–15 staff across China operations.
  • Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal and external reporting standards.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, international accounting standards, and corporate policies.
  • Partner with global stakeholders, including the UK and other international finance teams, to support consolidation, audit, and group reporting activities.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to management and support key business decisions.
  • Lead process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives to strengthen financial controls and reporting efficiency.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in accounting standards (IFRS/local GAAP) and ensure continuous improvement in financial governance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) is mandatory.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems.
  • Proven experience managing finance operations in China or regional exposure preferred.
  • Excellent command of English and Mandarin (spoken and written).
  • Strong technical accounting background with in-depth knowledge of consolidation, group reporting, and financial controls.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
