Job Summary:

The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of all plantation vehicles, machinery, and equipment including tractors, harvesters, trucks, and processing machinery. The role ensures that equipment is in good working condition to support continuous and efficient plantation operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on agricultural machinery such as tractors, trailers, excavators, and oil palm harvesting equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance according to service schedules to reduce breakdowns.
  • Maintain plantation vehicles, including 4WDs, lorries, and motorbikes.
  • Inspect and test repaired equipment to ensure functionality.
  • Keep records of service and repair logs.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and plantation SOPs.
  • Assist in maintaining workshop cleanliness and organization.
  • Respond to urgent repair requests in the field or at remote locations within the estate.
  • Report major mechanical faults to the Workshop Supervisor or Estate Manager.
  • Order and manage spare parts inventory in coordination with the procurement team.

Requirements:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical training.
  • At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience as a mechanic, preferably in an agricultural or plantation environment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and agricultural machinery.
  • Ability to work independently and under remote conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Ability to read repair manuals and schematics.
  • Possession of a valid Malaysian driving license (GDL or D class is an advantage).
  • Willing to be based in plantation areas (remote/rural locations).

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily outdoors or in plantation workshops.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends, or public holidays based on operational needs.
  • Physical work involving lifting, bending, and using hand/power tools.
