Penang Harmony Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (HARMONICO), established in March 2021, is an implementing agency focused on policies related to religious affairs other than Islam for the Penang State Government. The corporation aims to promote an inclusive and harmonious society in Penang and Malaysia by instilling universal values and spiritual understanding among different faiths. HARMONICO works closely with faith communities, inter-faith groups, educators, and more to bridge understanding and foster cooperation between groups, ultimately building a well-connected community.

Position: Program Officer

Department: Program Development

The Program Officer will assist and support the execution of programs and policies related to Non-Islamic Religious Affairs at HARMONICO, working closely with fellow members within the Program Management Department and the administration. The Program Officer is expected to engage closely with the Penang local faith communities, partners, agencies, vendors, and related government departments to execute programs and company initiatives to promote harmony and celebrate diversity. The task assigned to the Program Officer may not be limited to the responsibilities within the Program Management Department. The officer is also expected to support other departments when needed.

Responsibilities of a Program Officer include:

i. To manage the progress of programs, events, and activities at HARMONICO.

ii. To design programs/activities/dialogue that encourage harmonious religious tolerance, and inculcate mutual understanding and tolerance between people of different religions within the community of Penang.

iii. To promote Penang as a Religious Tourism venue by planning, collaborating, and cooperating with other government agencies and related entities.

iv. To do pre-program preparation, postmortem, and evaluation of the programs/activities.

Qualification & Experience

i. Degree in social sciences, history, communication, event management, law, or related fields.

ii. Fresh graduate or 1-2 years of working experience in the related field.

Skills and Qualities:

i. Great communicator, good listener, and displaying a positive attitude.

ii. Team player, resourceful, and innovative at solving problems.

iv. Good grasp of Microsoft Office programs, Canva, and other basic IT skills

v. Detail-oriented with an ability to multitask

vi. Fluent in both languages, English & Malay, in writing, comprehension, and speaking. Fluency in other languages used locally is a strong added value.
