We are seeking a versatile Pastry Chef/Café Chef to run our small Chocolate Café in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor. As a full-time team member, you will be responsible for creating delectable desserts and baked goods that capture the essence of our chocolate-focused menu.

What you'll be doing

  1. Prepare high-quality pastries, cakes, and other chocolate-based desserts as well as make coffees and chocolate beverages.
  2. Ensure consistent execution of recipes and plating standards.
  3. Develop new menu items and seasonal offerings
  4. Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient work environment in the kitchen.
  5. Manage daily café operations (opening, closing, cleanliness).
  6. Ensure hygiene & Halal compliance.
  7. Manage stock levels for ingredients and café supplies.
  8. Support gallery activities when needed (samples, tasting items).
  9. Comply with all food safety and health regulations.

What we're looking for:

  1. Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pastry Chef or Café Chef, preferably in the hospitality industry
  2. Formal culinary training or a recognised pastry chef certification
  3. Experience in café operations, bakery, pastry, or barista work is required.
  4. Able to prepare basic pastries, simple cakes, and baked items.
  5. Knowledge of coffee machines and beverage preparation.
  6. Good communication skills in English or Bahasa Malaysia.
  7. Able to stand for extended hours and handle fast-paced operations.
  8. Preferably has experience managing small teams.
  9. Proven expertise in creating a wide range of pastries, cakes, and chocolate-based desserts
  10. Strong attention to detail and presentation skills
  11. Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  12. Passion for working with chocolate and a commitment to quality
  13. Ability to work well in a team and contribute.

Customer Experience

  • Greet and interact with guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Introduce and explain café items, chocolate products, and recommendations.
  • Support chocolate gallery activities or demonstrations when needed.
  • Handle customer complaints or feedback courteously.

Administration & Reporting

  • Monitor ingredient usage, wastage, and reorder levels.
  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly café performance reports.
  • Work closely with Gallery Manager and Operations Manager on promotions, events, and new products.
