We are seeking a versatile Pastry Chef/Café Chef to run our small Chocolate Café in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor. As a full-time team member, you will be responsible for creating delectable desserts and baked goods that capture the essence of our chocolate-focused menu.

What you'll be doing

  • Prepare high-quality pastries, cakes, and other chocolate-based desserts as well as make coffees and chocolate beverages.
  • Ensure consistent execution of recipes and plating standards.
  • Develop new menu items and seasonal offerings
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient work environment in the kitchen.
  • Manage daily café operations (opening, closing, cleanliness).
  • Ensure hygiene & Halal compliance.
  • Manage stock levels for ingredients and café supplies.
  • Support gallery activities when needed (samples, tasting items).
  • Comply with all food safety and health regulations.

What we're looking for:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pastry Chef or Café Chef, preferably in the hospitality industry
  • Formal culinary training or a recognised pastry chef certification
  • Experience in café operations, bakery, pastry, or barista work is required.
  • Able to prepare basic pastries, simple cakes, and baked items.
  • Knowledge of coffee machines and beverage preparation.
  • Good communication skills in English or Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Able to stand for extended hours and handle fast-paced operations.
  • Preferably has experience managing small teams.
  • Proven expertise in creating a wide range of pastries, cakes, and chocolate-based desserts
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation skills
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Passion for working with chocolate and a commitment to quality
  • Ability to work well in a team and contribute.

Customer Experience

  • Greet and interact with guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Introduce and explain café items, chocolate products, and recommendations.
  • Support chocolate gallery activities or demonstrations when needed.
  • Handle customer complaints or feedback courteously.

Administration & Reporting

  • Monitor ingredient usage, wastage, and reorder levels.
  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly café performance reports.
  • Work closely with Gallery Manager and Operations Manager on promotions, events, and new products.
