Position Overview

The Finance Manager is responsible for managing the company's financial health by overseeing accounting operations, developing financial strategies, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. This role involves close collaboration with senior management to support decision-making through accurate financial reporting, risk management, and budget planning.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong analytical skills, strategic mindset, and a deep understanding of Malaysia's accounting and taxation framework.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee the full spectrum of accounting functions, including general ledger, AR, AP, fixed assets, and bank reconciliation.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports.
  • Perform financial analysis to monitor key business metrics, variance, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure proper month-end and year-end closing in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).
  • Consolidate group-level accounts (if applicable) and liaise with group finance for reporting alignment.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets, cash flow projections, and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance versus budget and provide insights to management on variances.
  • Recommend cost optimization strategies and process improvements to enhance profitability.

Taxation & Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with LHDN (Income Tax), EPF, SOCSO, EIS, Sales & Service Tax (SST), and other statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with tax agents, auditors, and regulatory authorities to ensure timely submissions and audits.
  • Oversee tax planning to optimize the company's tax efficiency and ensure proper documentation.

Internal Controls & Audit

  • Develop and maintain strong internal control systems to safeguard company assets and minimize risks.
  • Conduct periodic financial reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Coordinate and support external and internal audit activities, addressing audit findings promptly.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the accounting and finance team to ensure high performance and professional development.
  • Allocate responsibilities effectively and establish clear KPIs for the finance team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Strategic & Business Support

  • Provide financial insights to assist management in strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Participate in business reviews, board meetings, and management discussions as a financial advisor.
  • Support company growth initiatives such as expansion, system implementation, and cost restructuring.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance / Commerce or equivalent.
  • Professional certification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICAEW, MIA) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including at least 2–3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of MFRS, taxation, audit standards, and financial reporting principles.
  • Proficient in accounting software such as SQL, AutoCount, SAP, Oracle, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently under tight deadlines and handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Experience in manufacturing / FMCG / construction / service industry will be an added advantage.
