Job Description

Responsibilities

1. Quality Assurance (QA):

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with HACCP, KOSHER, GMP, HALAL, MeSTI, and FSSC 22000, ISO9001 standards.
  • Ensure all QA documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, forms, and records, are properly controlled, updated, and archived.
  • Lead and coordinate internal audits, customer audits, and third-party certification audits.
  • Conduct food safety risk assessments and monitor CCPs, OPRPs, and other critical control activities.
  • Oversee implementation of food defense and food fraud mitigation programs.
  • Manage investigation of customer complaints, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Liaise with external regulatory authorities (e.g., MOH, JAKIM) for product registration, site inspections, and certification renewals.

2. Quality Control (QC):

  • Supervise daily QC operations including raw material inspection, in-process quality checks, and final product evaluations.
  • Approve or reject materials and products based on specifications and quality standards.
  • Establish and review sampling plans, inspection criteria, and laboratory testing protocols.
  • Oversee lab functions related to microbiological, sensory, and chemical testing.
  • Monitor and enforce hygiene, sanitation, and environmental control in all production areas.

3. Team Leadership & Training:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the QA/QC team to meet operational and compliance objectives.
  • Design and conduct training on food safety, QMS procedures, hygiene, and quality standards.
  • Define KPIs for the QA/QC department and evaluate team performance to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.

4. Continuous Improvement:

  • Analyze quality data and trends to proactively identify areas for enhancement.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives using tools such as RCA, 5 Whys, and PDCA.
  • Collaborate with Production and R&D teams on product trials, process optimization, and validation activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Chemistry or a related preferred field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in QA/QC in food manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Recommended have strong knowledge or experience in HACCP certified; KOSHER, working knowledge of GMP, HALAL, MeSTI, and FSSC 22000.
  • Experience in Laboratory / Food Industry and Lead Auditor Certification is an advantage.
  • Skilled in sensory analysis, lab testing, formulation, and shelf-life evaluation.
  • Familiar with regulatory labelling, ingredient declaration, and export standards.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to translate company goals into operational execution.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and timelines under pressure.
  • Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).
