  • Develop initiatives and policies of the Library

Administrative Duties:

  • Supervise and direct the operation of the library in accordance with standard library practice
  • Promote the effective use of library
  • Maintain records of all library budget and expenditures
  • Prepare statistical reports of patron use, circulation and library expenditures for various agencies
  • Represent the library on committees, at conferences, and collaborate with other institutions.
  • Perform special assignments as directed by the senate and/or the vicechancellor

System Administrator Duties:

  • To propose the Library Management System for the University
  • Maintain and upgrade the library online catalog (OPAC)
  • Work with the IT department or external service provider to maintain and upgrade library pcs and printers

Cataloguer Duties:

  • Catalog recommended materials and gifts
  • Transfer and/or update cataloged records in the library online catalog
  • Keep statistics of materials cataloged

Collection Development Duties:

  • Use academic resources to select materials for the relevant collections to fulfill teaching and learning activities of the university
  • Prepare purchase order requests for all materials

Archivist Duties:

  • Collect and catalog published archival materials
  • Solicit archival materials from related agencies and departments for the development of university archives
  • Ensure that archival materials are protected and preserved
  • Maintain the security of all materials placed in the archives
  • Assist researchers in the use of archival materials
  • Check campus publications for historical accuracy
