Proprietary Trading Credit and Risk Monitoring:

  • Oversee credit exposure and risk monitoring for the firm's proprietary trading activities, ensuring alignment with approved limits and risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with trading desks to assess credit implications of proprietary strategies, including high-frequency trading, arbitrage, and other derivatives.
  • Establish robust risk frameworks to manage credit, market, and counterparty risks in proprietary trading.
  • Conduct stress-testing and scenario analysis to evaluate potential impacts of market volatility on proprietary positions.

Credit Assessment and Approval:

  • Evaluate and approve or recommend credit facilities for clients, including margin trading, derivative positions, and trading accounts, based on thorough analysis.
  • Monitor counterparty risk models and implement exposure limits for clients and proprietary trading.
  • Ensure comprehensive due diligence for all credit proposals, including proprietary exposures.

Risk Monitoring and Control:

  • Monitor ongoing credit exposure and trading positions across client and proprietary portfolios to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement early warning systems to identify potential risks, including mark-to-market losses, concentration risks, and margin calls.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of credit portfolios, focusing on high-risk derivative transactions and proprietary trading exposures.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing credit team with expertise in equity, derivatives, and proprietary trading.
  • Train staff on credit risk policies, underwriting standards, and the nuances of proprietary trading credit management.
  • Collaborate with trading, compliance, and risk teams to ensure cohesive credit and risk management practices.

Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including capital adequacy, margin requirements, exposure limits, and proprietary trading guidelines.
  • Liaise with regulators, auditors, and other stakeholders on credit and risk-related matters.
  • Stay updated on market and regulatory changes impacting credit and proprietary trading, ensuring timely adjustments to policies.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Prepare and present periodic reports on credit exposure, underwriting performance, and operational metrics across all market segments, including proprietary trading.
  • Leverage data analytics to gain insights into client behavior, credit utilization, and risk trends across equity, derivatives, and proprietary trading.
  • Drive the implementation of advanced credit risk management tools and systems for a unified view of risk.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Master's degree (MBA) or certifications such as CFA, FRM, or PRM are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in credit risk management, underwriting, and operations within stockbroking, derivative broking, proprietary trading, or financial services firms.
  • Proven track record of managing credit portfolios and implementing risk frameworks for client and proprietary trading activities.
  • Familiarity with margin trading, derivative credit risk, and market dynamics, including proprietary trading strategies.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of credit risk principles, underwriting processes, and the unique risks of proprietary trading.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a focus on equity, derivatives, and proprietary trading risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for engaging with clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
