Job Summary:
The Assistant Director, Corporate Strategy plays a leadership business role in the integration of market and external trends with the strategies of internal functional areas to formulate the corporate strategy and priorities to realize opportunities for business growth and profitability.
The person works directly with the business’ leadership, executives and stakeholders. It is a highly collaborative role across the organization to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas and information across the business, leading to a connected strategy that enhances revenue generation, market share and overall business performance.
Responsibilities include competitor benchmarking, industry intelligence, financial analysis, researching the market, monitoring the market trends, assessing performance and effectiveness of implemented strategies, identifying areas for strategic improvement as well as driving and managing strategic project initiatives.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Competitor benchmarking, industry intelligence, financial analysis, researching the market, monitoring the market trends, assessing performance and effectiveness of implemented strategies as well as identifying areas for strategic improvement.
- Build stakeholder confidence in the company’s vision to deliver shareholder value
- Build and maintain a powerful reputation for the business
- Provide market insights to the Executive Management team, including financial trends, shareholder concerns, competitor actions, and anything that might impact the company
- Identify those issues that are necessary to address in presentations of the company, and to inform management about these issues
- Analyze market and company data (also in comparison to its peers)
- Ensure that information about the company is disclosed transparently, comparably, consistently and reliably
- Driving and managing strategic project initiatives
Background and Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; and MBA would be an asset
- 10+ years of experience in developing company presentations which articulate the “story” of the company
- Strong collaborative skills to work across the business with senior leadership and stakeholders
Key Attributes
- Thorough knowledge and expertise in performance metrics
- Very familiar with valuation and
- financial modelling
techniques
- A deep understanding of trends in markets, macroeconomics, competitors and customer trends
- Someone who is entrepreneurial in orientation, as well as having a client-service mentality; must be able to excel under pressure, as well as meet short deadlines
- Possesses excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft powerful and engaging messages that inspire others
- Skilled in driving and implementing strategic initiatives
- Skilled in navigating complexities to arrive at clear messages and direction
