Production Support Lead

Role Description
- Production Support Lead Developers at FNZ own the pipeline of work required to resolve issues and complete build assigned to Production Support. They will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure maintenance and continuous improvement of platforms is included as part of the release process.
- Team Responsibilities
- The team are responsible for:
- Incident & Problem Management - analysis, investigation, diagnosis and problem solving to identify, troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Release & Change Management - support testing and release process for production fixes.
- Service Transition - facilitate the transition between project support and production support for all change
- Service Level Management - support the Service Managers in delivering FNZ services within KPIs, SLAs and contractual obligations
- Specific Role Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Takes technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of software development within Production Support.
- Plans and drives software development activities to ensure maintenance and continuous improvement of platforms is included as part of the release process.
- Adopts and adapts appropriate software development methods, tools and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
- Contributes to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for software development.
Development
- Analyse and resolve defects that have been introduced to our platforms;
- Interpret complex financial business processes and resolve issues with, or improve these processes, in line with existing business requirements
- Work with Analysts, Client Services and Operations to analyse and provide information on core system processes
- Collaborate with other developers to make sure that the solutions developed are robust and in-line with the business rules and requirements;
- Support new functionality during testing and in production; and
- Ensure code is designed and built in a reusable manner and adheres to FNZs standards.
- Work on continuous process improvement projects to create efficiencies across the business
Design / Quality
- Provide solutions and recommendations for the resolution of technical issues that arise and ensure solutions meet the original technical specifications and design requirements;
- Adhere to the defined procedures for code management, code reviews, coding standards, naming conventions and security standards;
- Write automated unit tests for any newly created code; and
- Perform manual unit testing to ensure any changes made to the system are of a high standard and the system hasn’t regressed.
Collaboration / Communication
- Promote the production support team both internally and externally. Ensure that creative solutions, tight code, tough problems solved are called out appropriately to the developer community, and where they lead to visible outcomes, to the broader FNZ teams and clients; and
- Collaborate with other developers to share knowledge, best practices, useful technology, and opportunities for cross-project system design / solutions.
Technology
- Keep abreast of latest and/or relevant technologies, tools and methods. Identify adoption of technology, tools and methods best suited to FNZ;
- Proactively resolve technical (environmental, coding) issues that impede the operation of a live production platform progress. Assist in the resolution of technical issues when requested by other developers; and
- Create novel solutions to problems by incorporating cutting edge technology or generic concepts.
Performance Assessment
- Availability - uptime during core and non-core hours
- Performance - performance metrics during core and non-core hours
- Reliability - test results and performance during real failure events
- KPI reporting - performance against team KPIs and individual KPIs as agreed
