About the Role

AirAsia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide comprehensive legal support to the company, focusing on commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and general legal matters related to the airline industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Review and Negotiation: Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including aircraft leases, supplier contracts, and service agreements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Advise on legal matters related to aviation regulations, compliance, and licensing requirements.
  • Legal Support and Guidance: Provide legal support and guidance to various departments within the organization, including operations, finance, and procurement.
  • Research and Development: Conduct legal research and stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices.
  • Dispute Resolution: Assist in resolving legal disputes, claims, and other matters as they arise.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with external legal counsel and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Special Projects: Support other legal initiatives and projects as assigned by the General Counsel or senior management.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Law degree and professional legal qualification with minimum 6-7 years post-qualification experience working in as a in-house counsel for a medium to large international corporation.
  • Language Skills: Fluent written and spoken English & ability to speak and/or read Mandarin will be a plus point.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in explaining legal concepts and issues in simple language to non-lawyers and providing succinct, accurate and comprehensible legal advice.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to understand and take account of business drivers and needs, and to draft contract with appropriate understanding and interpretation of the business and commercial intentions.
  • Influencing and Negotiation: Strong influencing, negotiating and facilitation skills.
  • International Experience: Exposure to international civil and/or common law contracts.
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to develop and sustain relationships with clients at all levels and in a range of cultures.
