About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemistry Laboratory Operations Specialist to join our team at Sinergia Talents Sdn Bhd. As a key member of our laboratory operations team, you will be responsible for managing laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with SOPs and HSE regulations, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage Laboratory Operations:
    • Interpret laboratory operation and management systems to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
    • Perform ad-hoc, intermediate, and final testing, as well as validate laboratory equipment.
    • Review laboratory procedures and documentation to identify areas for improvement and suggest enhancements to quality, health, and safety standards.
    • Identify the need for vendor service, maintenance, or calibration of laboratory equipment and implement appropriate procedures.
    • Access and retrieve data from laboratory data management systems, analyze trends, and present findings in appropriate formats.
    • Participate in risk assessments, hazard identification, and categorization to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Manage Samples:
    • Implement sample management systems and procedures, ensuring accurate and efficient sampling methods and techniques.
    • Coordinate sample preparation, labeling, transportation, storage, and disposal, adhering to policies and procedures.
    • Store samples correctly, following established guidelines, and monitor storage conditions to prevent contamination or degradation.
    • Interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) information for sample handling and ensure correct PPE selection within the team.
  • Develop New Technological Testing Methods:
    • Understand research project objectives and identify potential constraints impacting research procedures.
    • Assist in stakeholder communication, obtaining endorsements, and commitment to research projects.
    • Analyze data from experiments, relating it to industry standards or reference points, and support the design of experiments and tests according to project needs.
    • Track methodologies and ongoing research in the precious metal refining industry, staying up-to-date on best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Perform Laboratory Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Verify the accuracy and integrity of laboratory data analysis reports, reviewing calculated results against expectations.
    • Develop formulae to calculate statistical values, scientific quantities, and associated uncertainties for relevant test data.
    • Analyze trends in test data, calculating results to draw key insights, and document data in accordance with BR Metals requirements.
    • Present key data trends and findings in suitable formats, maintaining security and confidentiality of data.
  • Manage New Laboratory Projects:
    • Scope and drive medium-scale projects, developing realistic project plans based on assessment of project objectives, scope, and interdependencies.
    • Implement appropriate methodologies and tools to achieve desired outcomes effectively, managing project risks and developing mitigation plans.
    • Investigate project exigencies, identifying and addressing their root causes, and engaging stakeholders timely on matters impacted by project processes and outcomes.
    • Manage resources allocated to different parts of the project, coordinating completion of deliverables within agreed costs, timescales, and resources.
