**Job Title:** Senior Process Safety Engineer

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our team at Flexsys. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing process safety services and support to our Southern Asia operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process Safety Management: Develop and maintain a site-level process safety management system, providing support to the manufacturing site in implementing and sustaining these programs.
  • Process Safety Leadership: Serve as the facilitator for site process safety leadership teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Process Safety Audits: Develop and maintain an internal process safety audit program, evaluating and advising on third-party audit recommendations related to process safety.
  • Process Safety Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain a process safety knowledge management system, including training and revalidation programs.
  • Process Safety Input: Provide process safety input to enhance the quality of operating procedures and provide process safety input to maintenance and engineering departments to enhance day-to-day protocols and contractor management.
  • Process Hazards Analysis: Conduct and support process hazards analysis (PHA) and be the focal point for the PHA process, supporting and driving resolution of PHA recommendations and serving as a trainer for PHA.
  • Layers of Protection Analysis: Conduct and support layers of protection analysis (LOPA) and be the focal point for LOPA, supporting and driving resolution of LOPA recommendations and serving as a trainer for LOPA.
  • Advanced Process Safety Hazard Analysis: Be the site expert for advanced process safety hazard analysis, including quantitative risk assessment (QRA), control of industrial accident hazards (CIMAH), facility siting analysis, pre-start-up safety review (PSSR), and other relevant analyses.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Provide independent advice to site management on all process safety-related regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Process Safety Incidents and Near Misses: Lead and support process safety incidents and near-miss investigations using root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Management of Change: Champion the management of change (MOC) procedure and process.
  • Process Safety Documentation: Manage process safety documentation, including relief system and interlock documentation.
  • Safety Instrumentation System: Advise site engineering, maintenance, and operations on safety instrumentation system (SIS) to follow relevant industrial standards.
  • Process Safety Governance: Act as lead for site process safety governance committee and site representative for global process safety governance committee.
  • Engineering Standards and Designs: Advise site engineering department on developing engineering standards and designs.
  • Process Safety Services: Serve as liaison between site and global process safety management group for advanced process safety services.
  • Process Safety Regulatory Requirements: Provide advice to site process safety engineers and site management on all process safety-related regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and overall process safety improvements.
  • Insurance Providers: Be the point of contact and manage relationship with insurance providers (FM Global).
Requirements:
  • Education: Candidate must possess at least a degree in chemical engineering.
  • Language: Required language(s): English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Experience: At least 8 years of working experience in chemical, petrochemical, or oleochemical manufacturing plant with basic process safety knowledge required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Preferably an applicant who has spent at least 2 years in a process safety role, with enhanced process safety training or knowledge preferred.
  • Skills: Passion for process safety, familiar with chemical plant operations, strong technical background, motivated by technical and analytical work, strong knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, ability to understand and support interpretation of local legislation, self-motivated, creative, and able to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, strong project management skills.
  • Location: Applicants must be willing to work in Gebeng Industrial Estate, Pahang.
  • Work Type: Full-time position available.
