Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Management

  • Underwriting and Analysis
    • Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority levels.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents, brokers, and partners) to support business retention and acquisition.
  • Leadership and Development
    • Lead and manage underwriting teams to drive business results and develop underwriting capabilities.
    • Develop and implement rating tools and methodologies to deliver value to customers while being commercially viable for the organization.
  • Market Facing and External Relations
    • Develop and maintain leadership in the external insurance market to maintain the organization's position and influence.
    • Support the organization's sales culture by being a help point for market management team, agents, brokers, partners, and customers.
  • Operational Management
    • Assure development and implementation of policy, procedures, and standards to produce profitable results.
    • Manage relationships with country and regional underwriting teams.
Requirements
  • Qualifications and Experience
    • Typically has at least 10 years of engineering underwriting experience.
    • Proven ability to develop and execute on strategic plans and company initiatives.
    • Experience in leading underwriting teams.
    • Proven strong market-facing presence in the local market and industry network.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Demonstrate specialized knowledge and expertise in products and industry.
    • Proven track record of driving results.
    • Strong engineering underwriting proficiency.
    • Commercially astute with a comprehensive understanding of the general insurance industry and the products available.
