**Responsibilities**:
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
- Advise the Management/Disciplinary Committee on IR-related matters including but not limited to imposing appropriate disciplinary actions e.g. summary dismissal, termination of employment due to the frustration of contract, resolving grievances, conducting an investigation and ensuring compliance with the current employment legislation.
- Manage IR matters such as comprehensive planning in resolving company-wide disciplinary matters - including issuing show cause letters, having a counseling session, investigating and holding domestic inquiries e.g. acting as Prosecuting Officer.
- Provide support, guidance and recommendation to the business process, labor disputes and grievances in a proper and timely manner.
- Works with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the business adopts an effective approach in engaging staff on matters regarding industrial relations.
- Implement policies and procedures, in alignment with current Malaysian legislation and industry best practices.
- Monitor and ensure Company-wide compliance with the employment legislation i.e. Employment Act 1955 and Industrial Relations Act 1967.
- Review and propose amendments (if any) to current internal policies in ensuring that it is in line with the Company's initiatives and aspirations.
- Oversee the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) and advise the exit process/termination of employment due to poor performance.
- Maintain cordial relationships with government authorities i.e. labor office, IR department and external legal counsel.
- Attend a conciliation meeting with an aggrieved party/claimant at the labor office/IR department.
- Manage Industrial Court cases i.e. unfair dismissal claims/disputes by the claimant.
- Manage Union matters i.e. collective agreements/disputes/grievances.
**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Legal or equivalent
- Total 10 years of relevant experience in Industrial Relations matters and related fields in telecommunication, IT, manufacturing, banking industry.
- Excellent communication skills and able to interact with all levels and across business units/entities.
- Good understanding of HR and business structures. Possess working experiences in a medium to large scale organisation.
- Sound union management and collective bargaining, employee grievance and disputes management.
- Sound knowledge and skill in Industrial Relations, Employment Acts, Labor Law, counselling & coaching.
