Retail Chief of Operations

**Typical responsibilities of the job include**:
Retail COO is responsible for every aspect of the day-to-day supervision of retail outlets, including sales, staff, stock and resources management.

 Recruiting - interview and recruit new staff for his retail outlets. To recruit staff that are capable, motivated and having the right person for the right post.
 Training - Provide training program and on the job training for his new staff on the operation. Supervising - To supervised all his subordinates on their works progress and attitudes Appraising staff - To appraise all his staff on their performance. Doing appraisal by quarterly,half yearly or yearly. It is also for their confirmation of work, upgrading and increment if any.
 Managing budgets. To manage funds on all the budget that includes purchasing of stocks, utilities, salaries, promotions, rental, fees and other costs that related to his operations.
 Maintaining statistical and financial records - To keep and maintain all the data of customers, suppliers and any that interest for future record. As for Financial, need to keep and update all the records for the internal and external audit purposes and as well as need to keep the performances for any comparison in future.
 Dealing with customer queries and complaints - Update and action need to be taken on any customers queries and complaints within 24 hours. To meet and advice the customers on the complaints. Compensate if needed.
 Overseeing pricing and stock control - To monitor on the pricing that are competitive. Never too expensive compare to the competitors or too cheap that can jeopardize the profit. To manage and control on the stock holding. Too much stocks may incur on the purchasing and inventory cost. Less Stock holding may incur cost or loss due to insufficient of stock to sell. To negotiate with the suppliers in term negotiation of pricing, Term & Condition and Supply & Demand.
 Maximizing profitability and setting/meeting sales targets, including motivating staff to do so. Maximizing profitability
- To maximize profit by increase sales and reduce costs where possible. Avoid wastage by cutting down all the unnecessary expenditure. Setting/meeting sales targets - To set a reasonable target to the staff so that everyone is monitoring the sales. Having sales meeting on how to improve sales and performance as well as on how to overcome any setback. Set certain incentives to motivate the staff on how to achieve their sales and figures.
 Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation. - Ensuring the outlets are compliance with all the government authorities that includes Health Ministry, Fire Authorities, government licensing and others.
 Preparing promotional materials and displays. -To plan and execute promotion for his outlets. To increase sales with certain amount of budget and to put up all the POS materials in the stores for the awareness of the consumers. To merchandise and displays for stocks that are on promotions
 Liaising with head office. - Communicate with the head office in all that matters pertaining the operation of the retail trade. Getting approval, verification, update on reports on sales, market reports, performance, competitors, activities and others that interest the company.
