Logistics Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Mining Logistics & Operations Management

• Oversee end-to-end logistics operations supporting mining production, including material supply, fuel distribution, equipment mobilization, and product haulage.
• Manage transportation of minerals/ore to processing plants, stockpiles, ports, and customer locations.
• Coordinate heavy equipment mobilization and demobilization, including permits and safety clearances.
• Ensure alignment between logistics plans and mine production schedules to minimize downtime.

2. Supply Chain & Inventory Management

• Manage supply chain activities for critical mining consumables such as explosives, lubricants, fuel, spare parts, and PPE.
• Ensure availability of materials required for drilling, blasting, maintenance, and production operations.
• Oversee warehouse and yard operations, ensuring accurate stock levels and secure storage.
• Implement strict controls for hazardous materials and high-value inventory.

3. Transport & Vendor Management

• Manage relationships with transport contractors, haulage providers, and freight forwarders.
• Negotiate rates, service contracts, and delivery schedules for both inbound and outbound logistics.
• Monitor contractor performance, ensuring compliance with mining safety standards.
• Oversee fleet management (internal or contracted), ensuring vehicle readiness, compliance, and efficiency.

4. Compliance, Safety & Documentation

• Ensure logistics operations comply with mining regulations, safety protocols, environmental requirements, and local authority guidelines.
• Oversee transport documentation, weighbridge operations, permits, and export/import documents (where applicable).
• Implement HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards across all logistics functions.
• Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency response planning.

5. Planning, Forecasting & Coordination

• Collaborate with production, maintenance, procurement, and site management teams to forecast logistics requirements.
• Develop short- and long-term logistics strategies for ore movement, stockpile management, and supply chain continuity.
• Plan for seasonal/weather disruptions and ensure contingency logistics arrangements.

6. Cost Control & Continuous Improvement

• Optimize haulage routes, loading/unloading times, fleet utilization, and warehouse operations to improve efficiency.
• Drive cost-reduction initiatives without compromising safety or productivity.
• Identify and implement technology solutions (e.g., GPS tracking, logistics management systems, weighbridge automation).

7. Team Leadership

• Lead and supervise logistics coordinators, warehouse staff, drivers, weighbridge operators, and contractor teams.
• Provide training and enforce safety and operational standards.
• Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safe work practices.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Mining Engineering, or related field.
• 6-10 years of logistics experience, preferably in mining, heavy industry, oil & gas, or construction.
• Strong understanding of mine-site operations, heavy equipment movement, and bulk material hauling.
• Knowledge of HSE standards, mining regulations, and hazardous goods handling.
• Proficiency in logistics/warehouse management systems, GPS/fleet solutions, and ERP platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving, planning, and negotiation skills.
• Strong leadership with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in challenging environments.
• Ability to work in remote locations and under physically demanding conditions.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cross-border mineral export logistics (if applicable).
• Familiarity with weighbridge systems and bulk material logistics.
• Knowledge of mine site layout planning and pit-to-plant ore flow management.
• Certification in HSE, logistics, or supply chain (e.g., NEBOSH, APICS) is an advantage.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: RM8, RM10,000.00 per month
