Get to know the role
:

We are seeking to hire legally qualified lawyers to join our Legal & Regulatory Compliance function. Talented & passionate lawyers, regardless of specialties (whether corporate or litigation) are encouraged to apply. With Hata, you will have opportunities to expand your legal remit into regulatory compliance & operations.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Semantan (close connectivity with all major public transport systems).

The day-to-day activities:

• You will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, and collaborate with him to operate Hata's business in a compliant manner.
• You will be appointed as Hata's Compliance Officer with relevant regulatory bodies in Malaysia, and become the first point of contact in relation to Hata's AML/CFT compliance program.
• You will ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies including conducting regulatory reporting to regulatory bodies.
• You will work closely with Hata's Product team, ensuring that all regulatory requirements are conveyed to the Product Manager in a timely manner.
• You will maintain and develop strong relationships with regulatory bodies in Malaysia, ensuring the ongoing success of these critical partnerships.
• You will provide legal guidance and support to the team, including answering questions, drafting & reviewing documents, and providing feedback.
• You will join Hata's CEO to lead all policy discussions with government bodies as and when you are required by the CEO.
• You will support Hata's CEO in applying for new licences as and when Hata decides to expand its business overseas.

The Must-Have:

• Qualified advocate & solicitor with at least 5 years of work experience in a reputable law firm.
• Great communicator and is able to present himself/herself well in a professional meeting.
• Solid writing skills - needless to say you will write a lot.
• Independent and is able to source for relevant guidelines & legislations to keep abreast of legal/policy developments in the digital asset industry.
