Job Description:

The Quantity Surveyor (QS) will be responsible for managing all financial and contractual aspects of construction projects. This includes preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation, as well as monitoring project costs and ensuring expenditures are within approved budgets. The QS will also handle contract negotiations, valuations, and claims management, working closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Conducting feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to support project planning
  • Preparing progress payment certificates and interim valuations
  • Managing procurement processes and supplier evaluations
  • Advising on contract terms and conditions to minimize risks
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Providing regular cost reports and forecasts to stakeholders
  • Collaborating with design teams to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of construction methods and materials are essential. Previous experience in quantity surveying or cost management within the construction industry is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Professional membership or certification with a recognized body (e.g., Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM), RICS) is an advantage
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor or in a similar role within the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost control, and procurement processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam)
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
