About the Role
Are you passionate about authentic Malay cuisine and ready to take your culinary skills to the next level? We're looking for a Demi Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team You'll play a key role in preparing and cooking traditional Malay dishes for large-scale catering, banquet events, and daily meal production in our central kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present authentic Malay dishes such as rendang, masak lemak, gulai, sambal dishes, nasi minyak, and traditional kuih for daily menus and events.
- Support the Chef de Partie in planning and executing large-scale meal production, buffets, and special events.
- Ensure consistent taste, quality, and presentation across all servings.
- Handle batch cooking, portion control, and packaging as part of central kitchen operations.
- Maintain mise en place efficiently to meet high-volume production timelines.
- Uphold food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards at all times.
- Monitor ingredient stock levels and report any shortages promptly.
- Assist other kitchen sections during busy catering periods when required.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Demi Chef or Commis Chef.
- Proven experience in Malay cuisine and large-scale / banquet-style food preparation.
- Minimum Diploma in Culinary Arts or SKM Level 2 and above.
- Strong understanding of traditional Malay ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques.
- Good teamwork, time management, and communication skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
