Purchasing Assistant

Location: Bandar Sri Damansara, Selangor

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, with alternate Saturdays (full day)


Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Assistant to support our procurement function. You will be responsible for vendor research, price negotiation, purchase order processing, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. This role requires strong coordination with suppliers, production, quality, and accounts teams to maintain smooth operations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct vendor research and analysis to identify reliable suppliers based on cost-effectiveness, quality, and delivery capabilities.
  • Gather product specifications, price lists, and quotations from suppliers for comparison.
  • Negotiate with vendors on pricing and terms, and assist in supplier selection for management approval.
  • Review requisitions and initiate purchase orders; validate details such as GL codes and item descriptions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to track delivery schedules and ensure on-time, accurate supply of goods.
  • Perform clerical and operational duties including receiving, storing, and arranging deliveries to site.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to resolve invoicing or payment issues.
  • Maintain and update supplier database with accurate pricing and performance records.
  • Perform general purchasing and clerical duties such as filing, sorting, and administrative support.

What We're Looking For
  • Diploma or Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • At least 1–2 years' experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably in manufacturing, poultry, or food-related industries.
  • Strong in Excel and familiar with procurement systems.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to handle multiple tasks under deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English to liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive team player with good negotiation skills and stakeholder management ability.
