Reports To: Vice President, Business Development and Strategic Partnership, SQC (Singapore)

About the Role

SQC is expanding its presence in Malaysia and Singapore to become a leader in corporate events, learning experiences, and professional development programs.

We are seeking a passionate and entrepreneurial Events & Business Development Manager to spearhead this growth — from market setup and partnership development to the planning and execution of multiple high-impact events annually.

This is a strategic and hands-on role ideal for someone with strong event management expertise, business acumen, and a keen understanding of HRD Corp mechanisms for training programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead SQC's event and business development initiatives in Malaysia and Singapore, based from the Johor office.
  • Plan and deliver an annual calendar of 4–6 major events such as summits, leadership forums, masterclasses, symposiums, and corporate training programs.
  • Develop HRD Corp-approved learning and development programs and ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with corporates, training bodies, government agencies, and industry associations.
  • Drive event profitability through sponsorships, ticketing, and partnership models.
  • Oversee end-to-end event management — concept creation, budgeting, marketing, logistics, and on-site execution.
  • Collaborate with the Singapore HQ team to co-create regional events and ensure consistent brand presence.
  • Lead a small events and support team; build systems for performance tracking and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Event Management, Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in event management, conference production, or corporate learning environments.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute corporate or professional events across Malaysia or Singapore.
  • Familiarity with HRD Corp training frameworks and claimable program approvals.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-growing, cross-border setup.
  • Proficient in English.
