Project Field Service Engineer (Automation)

Location: Senai, Johor

Travel Requirement: Frequent travel to China and Thailand

Job Purpose

To provide expert technical support, installation, and maintenance services for automation equipment and systems, ensuring optimal performance and high customer satisfaction across key clients in both Asia and Europe region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management:

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely delivery of services and project milestones.

  • Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with Chinese clients, communicating effectively in Mandarin to address technical and non-technical needs.

  • Installation, Commissioning, and Maintenance:

  • Install, commission, and maintain automation machinery and control systems at customer sites in Malaysia, China, and Thailand.

  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan.

  • Technical Support:

  • Respond to technical calls, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues on-site.

  • Provide remote support and collaborate with engineering teams to address complex technical challenges.

  • Customer Training and Support:

  • Train customers and end-users on proper operation, programming, and maintenance of automation equipment.

  • Advise clients on best practices for preventive maintenance and optimal system configuration.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed service records, technical documentation, and submit regular reports on equipment status, issues, and improvements.

  • Material and Spare Parts Management:

  • Manage on-site inventory of tools, spare parts, and materials to ensure readiness for service tasks.

Job Requirements

  • Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or Higher Diploma in Electronics Engineering, Automation, or related field.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in field service or industrial automation, preferably in automation projects.

  • Language Skills:

  • Fluent in Mandarin (verbal and written) to communicate with Chinese clients and internal teams.

  • Proficiency in English and/or Bahasa Melayu for local and regional communication is advantageous.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of automation systems, PLCs, robotics, and related equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and technical manuals.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Travel:

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to China and Thailand.

  • Other:

  • Valid passport and driver's license preferred.

  • Experience with SMT or process instrumentation is a plus.
