Senior Finance Executive (AR/AP - Logistics)

Position Overview
Sea Hawk Global Lines Sdn Bhd, a leading integrated logistics provider established in 2003, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Finance Executive to join our finance team in Klang. This role is pivotal in managing the end-to-end Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions, ensuring accurate financial transactions, efficient cash flow management, and strong internal controls in alignment with our fast-paced logistics operations (shipping, container haulage, warehousing).
We are looking for a finance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and has hands-on experience in collections, vendor payments, and AR/AP reporting, preferably within the logistics or freight forwarding industry.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable (AR):
- Oversee the complete AR process including customer billing, invoice issuance, credit notes, and collections.
- Proactively follow up on outstanding invoices and implement effective strategies to reduce aging receivables and DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
- Monitor customer credit limits and payment terms, and escalate high-risk accounts as necessary.
- Prepare and analyze AR aging reports and collection performance metrics on a monthly basis.
- Liaise with the sales and operations teams to resolve billing disputes and ensure timely payments.
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Manage full-cycle AP including verification, posting, and payment of vendor invoices (freight charges, port fees, warehousing costs, etc.).
- Perform monthly vendor reconciliations and ensure timely payments to maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Monitor AP aging to ensure obligations are met without incurring penalties or disrupting operations.
- Assist in managing intercompany payables and settlements.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports including AR/AP summaries, cash flow forecasts, and cost analysis.
- Support month-end closing activities by ensuring all AR/AP transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, especially in areas impacting cash flow and working capital.
Compliance & Controls:
- Ensure all AR/AP activities comply with company policies, Malaysian tax regulations (e.g., SST), and applicable accounting standards (FRS).
- Support internal and external audit processes with necessary documentation and reconciliations.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline AR/AP workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to the implementation or enhancement of accounting systems, particularly automation of AR/AP tasks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Operations, Sales, and Customer Service teams to ensure finance processes align with business activities.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders such as clients, vendors, and banks to resolve payment or billing issues.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience in AR/AP or general finance, preferably within the logistics, freight forwarding, or shipping industry.
- Strong knowledge of AR/AP best practices, accounting standards, and local tax regulations.
- Proficient in accounting software (ERP experience preferred) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail, with strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, especially in managing collections and vendor relations.
- Self-driven, accountable, and able to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
