Accounting Assistant

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation and posting of journal entries
  • Perform bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations
  • Support invoice processing and accounts payable workflows in Xero
  • Provide assistance with cash flow management, including preparation of daily/weekly reports
  • Contribute to month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet schedules
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as requested by the Senior Accountant
  • Maintain accurate and organised accounting records in line with company policies
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with Australian GST and tax obligations (BAS support, coding checks, GST accuracy on invoices)
  • Provide backup support across the finance team as required

Skills & Experience

  • 1–3 years' experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or assistant accountant role
  • Hands-on experience with Xero (or similar accounting systems)
  • Understanding of Australian GST and tax concepts preferred but not essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general IT competency
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a small team
  • Experience with month-end close and reconciliations across multiple entities
  • Exposure to cashflow reporting and analysis

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: RM2, RM3,500.00 per month
